WHY ARE MY HOME LIGHTS FLICKERING?
First, check the lightbulb. Is it tightly screwed in? If it is not loose, try replacing the bulb. If the light is still flickering the diagnosis is probably a loose wire. Loose wires should be immediately addressed. If at all possible do not use the light until the electrician arrives. Loose wires can lead to fires and injuries.
I JUST REPLACED MY OLD BULBS WITH LED BULBS, SO WHY IS MY DIMMER SWITCH NO LONGER WORKING?
There are dimmer switches and LED bulbs that are compatible, however, many of the outdated dimmer switches will not work with LED bulbs. If you remove the LEDs and put in regular bulbs and it works… then you know that you’ll need an appropriate dimmer switch with compatible LED bulbs.
HOW DO I RESET A TRIPPED BREAKER?
First, turn off the lights & electrical switches in the affected room or rooms. Next, look at the circuit breaker panel for the flipped switch that will be in the center position. The rest of the switches will be in the ON position. Flip the switch to OFF position, then flip it to the ON position. Finally, wait a moment to make sure the switch stays in the ON position. Now you can turn on all lights in the affected rooms.
WHAT IS A GFCI OUTLET?
GFCI stands for “ground fault circuit interrupter”. This is an extra safety measure to protect people from potential fire & shock danger. GFCI is used in bathrooms, kitchens, unfinished basements and any place where the outlet may come in contact with water. The outlet has a sensor that will trip the circuit if it detects electricity going down the incorrect path, for example through water or a person. Many times you may just need to reset your GFCI outlet to solve the problem. If resetting the outlet does not work, give Right Electrical Services a call.
